Aldeburgh is a quiet, but flourishing town on the unspoilt Suffolk Coast. Internationally famous for its annual music festival founded by Benjamin Britten in 1948, it also has a strong maritime tradition dating back to 1300. There are still long shore fishermen who launch their boats from the shingle beach and sell their catches from the black-tarred huts.

Aldeburgh lies in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It has a championship golf course, excellent sailing on the River Alde, many country and beach walks and a number of bird reserves close by - one of which is Minsmere (RSPB) where the Marsh Harrier and Bittern flourish, and another is Havergate Island, home of the Avocet.
