On Thursday 28th February 2019, Ricardo Tavares from Darwin Vineyards, Chile and Simon Richards from Adnams will be joining us for an evening of conversation, fine food and interesting wines.
Introduction by Ricardo Tavares
"Darwin Vineyards is a family owned Chilean winery with sustainably farmed estates located in the central valley. We combine a traditional family approach with the most modern technology to guarantee the best quality of our wines. We have 3 generations of winemaking experience and bottle thousands of bottles of wine per year, from Varietal level up to our Grand Reserve. Our wines are exported to more than 40 countries and enjoyed by wine lovers all over the world.
I have been in love with wine since I was 8, when my grandfather handed me some pruning shears and asked me to help the harvest. 35 years have passed, and I can still remember, as if it was yesterday, the blisters on my hand at the end of the first day of pruning and my stained feet and legs from treading grapes. After academic studies, I worked for a decade in FMCG’s, and travelled extensively across Europe, Africa and the Middle-East. I continued to enjoy wine as a consumer from the very first official sip at the age of 18 until I became a father, in 2007. That year I took on a new challenge working for a family owned winery. A decade later, and a couple of other professional experiences in family owned Portuguese wine producers, from mainland Portugal to Madeira Island, and now in Chile, I am still happy to report I do what I like, and like what I do!
